Laura Kincaid

Clear and consistent criteria allow your dog to exceed your expectations!”

Laura has been training dogs since she was in Junior High School. She didn't have her own dog to train as a child, so she started walking neighbors' dogs after school and trained them to walk nicely on a leash and then progressed to tricks with them.

Laura got her first dog while in college, a rescue Border Collie named Brandy, and took her to an obedience class for socialization. She had been badly abused by her previous owners and needed a positive experience with strangers and other dogs. That class led Laura to competing in AKC obedience. In the thirty-five years since that first step into the competition ring, Laura has taught and competed in obedience, agility and herding across several organizations, earning championships on multiple dogs in all three sports. She has been a UKC Obedience judge and is currently an AKC Herding judge.

Laura has owned and competed with Border Collies and Brittanys and has trained students with all types of pure bred as well as mixed breed dogs. Currently, Laura shares her home with Border Collies who help her daily with her herding lessons on the farm.

Laura believes that training your dog to be a good companion is a vital part of owning a dog, no matter what plans you have for him/her. Your time in the competition ring is short compared to the amount of time your dog spends as your companion. Having a well-trained dog makes that companionship bond so much stronger.
