Len Dane
“Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.” - Author Unknown
The dog obsession began for Len when he decided to be the third owner of a 7-month-old Black and Tan Coonhound. While taking him through puppy class, the instructor suggested that he explore the sport of Tracking. After all, Tracker was his dog’s name! Len and Tracker went on to earn their TD title. Len and his wife, Amy, worked together to put TD and TDX titles on their German Shepherd Dog – Rueger.
Len stepped up and took the lead as President of the Tracking Club of Wisconsin. This position helped him extend his knowledge of the sport. He began teaching a few friends and their dogs how to track, which led him to becoming an instructor.
Over the years, Len has helped over 50 handler/dog teams start their tracking journeys. There have been 6 TD, 4 TDU, 2 TDX, and one VST titles earned by his students. Several others have earned tracking titles and one has become a Champion Tracker.
Len and his wife Amy live in Kenosha with their three dogs; Havok (7) a German Shepherd Dog, Clover (6) a Black and Tan Coonhound, and Waldo (2) a German Shepherd Dog. Len is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys spending time on the water fishing and days in the woods hunting.
